Welcome To All Students and Families
From the Health Office
Just a few reminders as we begin the school year. Effective communication between the Health Office and parents is extremely important for us to be able care for your child in the event of an illness or injury. We are better able to care for your child if we have specific information available to us. You may leave a message at 298-3010 x 3 any time, day or night, to update the health office with any information regarding the health of your child. We will return your call as soon as possible. Also, please make sure that all emergency phone numbers on file are the most recent and up-to-date. Notify our clerk anytime you change your phone number or emergency contacts.
State mandated screenings for hearing, vision, and height/weight/BMI will begin in September with the kindergartenclassrooms. First grade students will have their distance vision screened in October. Then in November, 3rd gradestudents will have their distance vision and height/weight/BMI screened. Additionally, all new students to APSwill be screened for vision, hearing, and height/weight/BMI as mandated by the state of New Mexico. The purpose of the screenings is to identify and treat health issues that may impact your child’s ability to learn in the classroom. The school nurse will call the parent/guardian to notify you of any identified concerns and will also send a written referral home with the student in the backpack.
